Teaching Assistant Post

Overview

Canada Hill Primary School is seeking to appoint, as soon as possible, a Teaching Assistant to support a Reception child with an Educational Health Care Plan in our happy school. There is also cover at lunchtime required as part of the post. You will be expected to show a high degree of initiative and be able to react to given situations with integrity and compassion. Experience of working with children who have sensory needs and autism including communication & interaction difficulties would be beneficial but not essential.

This post is fixed term as it is linked to EHCP funding

 

Personal attributes

We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and highly motivated person to:

  • have the child’s needs at the heart of everything
  • have a warm, caring, nurturing personality.
  • work alongside the class teacher and SENDCo to support the child and help them access learning opportunities;
  • deliver targeted interventions linked to the EHCP;
  • be able to develop positive relationships with children and parents.
  • be able to work alongside the SEND team, parents and outside agencies to support children’s learning and progress
  • be able to support pupils in development skills in independence, self-confidence, and social interaction including providing imtimate care.
  • have high expectations of pupils’ learning and behaviour.
